A senior actor who didn't set a good example to his junior.

Here's The Case
A. Drug Abuse Episode I (February 2006 – October 2007)
Roy Marten was arrested on February 2, 2006 at 04:00 PM during a raid on a house in H. Buang II Street no 1, Ulujami, South Jakarta. Officers confiscated two small packages of crystal methamphetamine (shabu-shabu) weighing 2.6 grams. He was arrested together with his friend, Ilyas Jacob, who was also the owner of the house. He was represented by Chris Salam, who was his own brother, as his lawyer. The trial was held in South Jakarta District Court with Johanes Suadi as the presiding judge and Didik Farkhan as prosecutor.
Roy admitted in the court trial that the drug was his and expressed his deep regret. On May 29, 2006, Roy received the verdict of 9 months which was only half of the prosecutor's demand. He received an remissions and was released on October 1, 2007. Upon the release, Roy was appointed by BNN, the the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, as one of public figures to promote anti-narcotics campaign.
B. Drug Abuse Episode II (November 2007 – August 2009)
Roy was detained for the 2nd time in Novotel hotel in Surabaya on November 13, 2007. The police confiscated 1,5 grams of shabu-shabu, bong, scale and aluminium foil in room no 465. He was arrested together with his five friends: Fredy Matatula, Roy Hartanto aka Hong Kho Hay, Didit Kesit Chayadi, and Winda. Ironically, it happened three days after he gave a testimony during the signing of an anti-drugs joint agreement between BNN and the Surabaya-based newspaper Jawa Post in Surabaya.
Due to this recurrent case, Roy underwent a severe depression as the public hugely disdained him for deception and humiliation of the anti-narcotic campaigns. His trial was held in Surabaya District Court with Berlin Damanik as the presiding judge and Adi Wibowo as prosecutor. Roy was represented by Sunarno Edy Wibowo as his lawyer.
On April 12, 2008, Roy was sentenced by a Surabaya court on Friday to three years in jail and a fine of Rp 3 million for using illegal drugs. The sentence was six months lighter than that demanded by prosecutors as the defendant was found guilty only of using and not selling the drugs. Roy objected the verdict, saying it is too long for a drug victim. Based on his family request, since August 2008 Roy served his sentence in Cipinang Penitentiary in Jakarta instead of Surabaya state prison.
How It Ends
After serving two-third of his sentence, Roy was granted a two-month remission and a parole on August 18, 2009 that allow him to have freedom sooner than the original sentence. During the parole, he must report himself monthly to the Cipinang Correctional Center and East Jakarta Judiciary until he was granted a full release in August 18, 2011. A reporting absence or re-misconduct will cancel the parole.
He was reported to call himself “more stupid than donkey, falling twice in the same hole”. He still received many job offers after this case.
Roy Marten is an Indonesian seasoned actor whose the cinematic heyday was in 1970's. His hit movie was “Cintaku di Kampus Biru” and “Ali Topan Anak Jalanan”. His real name is Wicaksono Abdul Salam and was born on March 1, 1952 in Salatiga, Central Java.
Do You Know?
Both Roy Marten's cases received enormous attention from infotainment industry. In the first episode in 2006, many infotainment shows 'stood by him' by speculating him being framed, in regard to his earlier dispute with the fellow actor, Anwar Fuady, on the corruption issue in PARSI organisation. As for the 2nd episode in 2008, the infotainment tried to offset his alleged crime by showing humanitarian theme about the fortitude of Roy's wife, ex-model Anna Maria.
